soccergirl5 asked:

We’ve got a Boxer/Shepherd/Beagle mutt mix. He’s very social and 2 years old. We’ve been living at our apartment for nearly 6 months now and in the spare bedroom, he likes to go under the bed.

Now, go under the bed may not be the right term for it. The bed is very tall, but the space underneath it is about 6 inches high. He goes to the far wall where there is a small space. After about 4-5 minutes of hanging out and assessing his options, he ducks his head under the bed. Then, he pushes off of the wall with his feet and propels himself under the bed. The space is so tight he has to wriggle around, but he frequently spends a few hours under the bed if nobody is making any food or playing.

The process of leaving the under the bed space is ridiculous. He first will spend a few minutes with a foot, a tail or his head out from under the bed. He seems to survey what is happening in the room and deciding if he wants to leave. Sometimes he whimpers as he digs his claws into the carpet and literally performs this weird wriggle/grab move where he army crawls out from under the bed to certain freedom.

He didn’t do this often, but now we have a guest staying in the bedroom and he seems to do it a few times a day. Any ideas why in the world he does this? Nothing seems to trigger it, and he doesn’t do anything the same after wards. He has a cage with blanket that he spends time in too – so it’s not that he doesn’t have his own space. He doesn’t bring toys or anything under the bed either?

Anybody have any ideas?! Cheers

Dave M asked:

My mom got a black lab a few weeks ago. I am waiting to leave for the Army so I have been staying at home with the dog. She is now 3 months old. And in the last 3 weeks, I have gotten her completely house broken. She is a brilliant dog. For some reason, she would always go to the bathroom on my moms bedroom floor. I broke her of that and now there are no messes in the house. Except now she has peed twice on my moms bed. After the first time, my mom of course went and washed the sheets and blankets. But then, after they were clean, she did it again. Anybody know why she is doing this?
