  • old biker dude says:

hand wash in sink or tub
    line dry

  • bisou says:

Use a gentle shampoo and conditioner just as you would your own hair. after all wool is hair.

  • vhines200 says:

in the washing machine in cold water in the gentle cycle or in the bathtub, also with cold water (fill the tub, let it soak awhile, agitate periodically with your hands). Line dry. Either way it might shrink a bit, but it will be nice and clean.

I’m an ex military wife and I use to wash those for him. I always washed it in the washing machine in cold water. I would dry it for a few minutes in the dryer and then let it line dry.

  • clmez says:

wash it in the machine if its not tooo big.Put a cupful of white vinegar in the draw with your normal powder.Wash on a cold wash then add a cupful to the rinse draw.Short spin it .Then hang outside to dry.

When I was in the army just a couple of years ago, we would always wash the wool blankets in the regular washing machine, on the cold/cold setting, and everything else just like normal. No need to use special soap powder or do anything special at all. It’s going to come out pretty dry already, as the wool doesn’t soak up much water. So it’s best if you just hang it up to dry. That way you don’t have to worry about it getting too hot and shrinking in the dryer. (You can tumble dry with cool air if your dryer has that option.) Oh, and you don’t need a clothes line or anything like that, either. I used to hang mine on the closet door of my barracks overnight and it would be dry by morning. If you can, have a fan on it so it doesn’t dry stiff. Man, I love those wool blankets.
