Is there anything wrong with handing out cash or gift certificates for Christmas?
I am sick of being bombarded by commercials advertising s*** I will never be able to afford. My God, people are going to spend what I pay for rent on one stinkin gift! I refuse to get caught up in the commercialism of Christmas. Just give me the Charlie Brown special and a good dinner. People really have forgotten what Christmas really is. and those that feel guilty comfort themselves in a blanket of self righteousness by donating a few bucks to the Salvation Army. So anyway I am giving out certificates. They can use their gas to go to wal mart and pick out what they want. Sorry if I seem cynic-might be too much bad TV.

I’m not a fan of cash – what if everyone gave each other $50? What would be the point? But if you at least give a Barnes and Noble card to someone you know who reads a lot, it shows that you thought about who they are. Or a Safeway card to someone struggling to feed their family; or dinner for two to the person you hope will take you to dinner. If it can in some way be personalized – as impersonal as it is – all the better.
you should put more feeling into it if the gifts are or loved ones
i think they’re great! i’d rather get cash, that way i could either save it or spend it on something i’d enjoy and say that i got it with the money a specific person gave me. that way it’ll be like it was their gift to me.
gift certificates are pretty good too, just make sure that the place where u get the gift certificate from is a place that the person you’re giving it to, will like.
No, I really don’t like giving gift cards or cash as gifts. I might put gift cards if I would make like a gift basket. But if it was just a giftcard eh no it seems too impersonal and for me it’s saying I was too lazy or something. I can understand if a person doesn’t have enough money but…I don’t know.
Also some people have forgotten the meaning of Christmas I agree but you’re not making it any better. Regardless of religious beliefs (I am a Christian, not a die hard one who follows everything according to the bible I’m more of a Protestant according to my mom and my grandmother living all the way in Germany). But I think we can all agree the the Christmas holiday is about giving, lighting up someone’s face with a gift even if it doesn’t cost a lot of money, if you put a lot of thought into the gift than that’s all it matters.
blondie.
