I think it was very odd that he left his wife and baby alone in the station. It would have been more sensible if all of them had stuck together. I'm damned if I'd stay alone on a railway station at night while my husband went off. Besides, she'd have kept warm more easily if she was walking. Not a sensible thing to do in my opinion. and why didn't she have a warm coat on anyway? What was she thinking of going out in that weather without one?

I think both these people sound absolutely idiotic, and no, I wouldn't behave like either of them. I can't think what he was thinking of leaving them alone at the station like that, he'd have done much better to take them with him.

I think most couples who are fond of each other do things for each other, but I can't say I am thrilled by the idea of a screaming, weeping man.

When two people are in a relationship it is both their responsibility to care for each other. Enough with the gender roles already.

Men and women both support and protect their partners, but in different ways. Because men are physically stronger, then they often protect women from physical threats, whereas women can look after men emotionally. Both genders can be protective, but there's no point in being protective in the same areas; if both people were trying to give the other their coat, it just wouldn't work. Men are naturally suited to that kind of physical protection, and women would be more likely to listen to a man's problems and talk them through with him.

Why is that heroic? It sounds extremely irresponsible to be travelling around with a baby in that weather with no transportation or mobile phone. But if it were me I'd go with my partner, better to keep moving than to stay still and cold.
